The Sports Watercooler

March Madness is getting closer and closer. Conference tournaments are either ending or beginning to start, and the field of 65 is becoming more solidified.

This year's hot Cinderella team 21 Drake punched its ticket to the Dance by throttling Southern Illinois in the MVC tournament. And in an almost exact opposite, St. Marys was ranked all year, lost in their conference tournament and is now going to have to be sweating it out next Sunday watching CBS like the rest of us.

And there were a bunch of fun games this weekend. UCLA got some help from the refs again, for the second time in a row, as they beat Cal. Georgetown won the Big East with some clutch play down the stretch. And Notre Dame finished tied for second place in the Big East, a school record.

And yeah, NBA, NHL and some golf were on this weekend, but I spent all day Sunday with my roommate watching approximately 8 hours of The Wire. You can insert your own joke about how The Wire is more exciting than NBA or NHL games, I am too lazy.

Something to watch tonight: although its a gimmick and it doesn't matter for anything, tonight at Madison Square Garden, an "I'll come out of retirement for a fat pay check" Pete Sampras heads off against the best ever Roger Federer. MSG is sold out, but something tells me Isiah Thomas will screw this whole thing up by trading Federer and $10 million dollars for the rights of Boris Becker and Andre Agassi's kid.
