The Sports Watercooler

I usually try to start with the biggest news, but I think that could be hard to do today. Depending on what you like the most, there were a bunch of top headlines. So the best way to do this is with a yearbook style, award ceremony.

Most Likely to Be Remembered: The Houston Rockets. They lost last night to the Celtics, ending their winning streak 1 win away from tying the NBA record. Still, 22 in a row is impressive, as they last time they suffered a defeat was January 27.

Most Likely to Succeed: The Boston Celtics. They were the ones responsible for killing The Streak. They have also now beat San Antonio and Houston on consecutive nights. They are really gelling with the addition of Sam ET Cassell. Plus, they won last night without Ray Allen. There has been some questions about this team come playoffs, but from what they have displayed for the past 2 nights, I don't think many questions remain.

Most Exciting: Mount St. Mary's. They won the first NCAA game last night. Sure it was just the play-in game, AND they beat the first ever 20 LOSS team in the NCAA tournament, AND their win means they have to face overall one seed North Carolina, but hey--they are still dancing.

Most Endearing: While other teams have been playing Spring Training games against each other or tying the University of Michigan (damn you Mets), the Yankees headed up to Virginia to play the Virginia Tech team. Sure they destroyed them 11-0, but the spent the day visiting the memorial, signing autographs and during the game, they wore V-Tech hats, to honor the 32 who died last April. Even robotic A-Rod shed a tear before it turned his face to rust.

Best Business Student: Terrelle Pryor. The stud high school quarterback will finally announce today where is he going to school. Today is the perfect day to do so. He didn't get lost in the thousands of signings on National Signing Day, he waiting until the day before the tournament, so there is hardly any sporting news competition. Of course he is going to ruin it all by heading to Ohio State, but thus far, he has been very smart. And I am sure holding out like this has garnered him a ton of booster cash.

Most likely to be forgotten: Any team that played a game in the NIT last night. Sorry guys.

Most likely to be a degenerate gambler: All of you! Today is the last day to fill out your brackets. Do it! And also fill one out on facebook and join the Bikes in Trees pool! We are up to 8 entrants, we could use some more!
